Eligibility Criteria for International Applicants

1. Citizenship Requirements

  • Applicants must hold foreign citizenship.

  • Korean-origin applicants are eligible only if:

    • Neither parent holds Korean citizenship, or

    • The applicant completed ALL elementary, junior high, and high school education outside Korea.

2. Academic Requirements

  • Must have graduated or expect to graduate from high school by August 31, 2026 (for Fall Intake).

3. English Proficiency

  • Proof of English proficiency may be required unless you studied in an English-medium school.

4. Eligible Schools

  • International schools inside Korea are generally not accepted.

  • Applicants should have received most of their education outside Korea.


Application Tracks

1. Early Track
For students who want early admission decisions.

2. Regular Track
The main route for Fall semester applicants.

Note: Application track cannot be changed after paying the application fee.


KAIST Application Process

1. Create an Online Account

Fill in personal details, academic background, and upload all required information.

2. Pay the Application Fee

  • USD 80 (non-refundable)

3. Upload Required Documents

  • High school transcripts

  • Graduation certificate or expected graduation letter

  • Passport copy

  • Parents’ citizenship documents

  • One or more recommendation letters

  • School profile

  • Personal statement / self-introduction

  • Financial statement or sponsor letter

  • English test scores (if required)

  • Optional tests (SAT, ACT, IB, A-Levels, AP)

4. Additional Documents for Korean-Origin Applicants

To verify education history and foreign residency.

5. Application Review

  • Some applicants may be invited for an interview.

6. Admission Decision
