The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) is a pioneering institution transforming STEM education and research in Africa. Founded in 2003, AIMS has grown into the continent’s largest network of centres of excellence for training, research, and public engagement in mathematical sciences. With six centres across Africa, AIMS provide a world-class, pan-African, and interdisciplinary learning environment that equips young Africans with skills to address critical challenges such as climate change, food security, and pandemics.

To date, AIMS has trained over 3,500 graduates from 45 African countries, with 35% being women. Program Manager – AIMS Industry Initiative!

The Program Manager – AIMS Industry Initiative will join a high-energy team focused on sharing success stories and scaling up impact.

The Program Manager will lead the implementation and support for the deployment of various activities for the AIMS Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program. The Program Manager will be expected to manage the onboarding of fellows as part of the AIMS Rwanda Incubator and provide selected entrepreneurs with technical and professional development with focused supervision and mentorship, and lead the implementation of technical development programs and initiatives, including the development of concept notes.

As the Program Manager AIMS II, you will develop high-quality documents such as reports, presentations, flyers, and success stories to highlight the impact of departmental programs and activities; develop and implement all media content related to public engagement activities for the department.

As the ideal candidate, you play a key role in partnership development efforts, including the identification of funding opportunities. You will also assist in the preparation of fundraising proposals and provide facilitation support to departmental workshops and events.

This is a 1-Year (renewable) opportunity based at AIMS Rwanda Centre in Kigali Rwanda.

Do you have what we need?

  • A master’s degree or equivalent in project management, or other related disciplines with at least at least 4 years of hands-on project management.
  • Proven experience in developing partnerships with organizations in various sectors.
  • Ability to understand and communicate (written and oral) project deliverables and impact to a range of audiences.
  • Experience in project management across various projects, including business and entrepreneurship development experience
  • High level of integrity and keen to work in a multicultural and global environment.
  • Personal drive and effectiveness
  • Analytical and adaptability skills
  • Collaboration and negotiation
  • Excellent communication skills, including good writing skills
  • Fluency in English (reading and writing) is required; Knowledge of Kinyarwanda/French is an added advantage.
