About SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda

SOS Children’s Villages Rwanda is an independent, non-governmental, child-focused organization supporting vulnerable children and young people in Kigali, Gicumbi, Kayonza, and Nyamagabe. The organization applies a holistic approach to child care, ensuring that the best interests of the child are met.

The organization seeks Project Field Officers (Green Project) to support the implementation of its Green Regeneration Program in Nyagatare and Kayonza districts.


Job Purpose

The Project Field Officer will assist the Project Manager in all aspects of project delivery, including planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and stakeholder collaboration. The officer will also support children at risk of losing family care through direct work with caregivers and communities, promoting sustainable family and community development.


Main Responsibilities

  • Organize and support the implementation of project activities.

  • Arrange meetings and trainings (venue, logistics, attendance, etc.).

  • Collaborate with community structures and stakeholders.

  • Assist in project planning, monitoring, and reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual).

  • Support external consultants during baseline and end-term evaluations.

  • Regularly update beneficiary data in the Programme Database (PDB2).

  • Maintain close contact with families and children through visits and meetings.

  • Support development of services and interventions under the Green Project.

  • Promote community awareness and mobilization for project success.


Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Regularly assess family progress and update records in the PDB.

  • Report on key performance indicators and project outcomes.

  • Support project evaluations and collaborate with child protection authorities when necessary.


Partnership Building and Advocacy

  • Maintain contact with service providers and community partners.

  • Advocate for children and families to access social entitlements and services.

  • Support community mobilization, awareness campaigns, and cooperative capacity-building.

  • Train farmers on sustainable agriculture practices, fertilizer preparation, and post-harvest technologies.


Qualifications and Competencies

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Rural Development, Community Development, Social Work, Environmental Protection, or Agriculture.

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in community development, child protection, or working with cooperatives and farmers.

  • Knowledge of project cycle management.

  • Strong communication skills (English required; French is an asset).

  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

  • Excellent organizational, facilitation, and presentation skills.

  • Team player with high integrity, respect, and cultural awareness.

  • Experience with social research (quantitative & qualitative methods) is an advantage.
