Position Overview

The Credit Operations Manager (COM) will lead Numida’s credit operations in Rwanda, reporting to the Head of Credit. This role is critical for managing loan underwriting, verification, disbursement, collections, and operational risk controls. The COM will ensure consistent, high-quality execution of credit operations, supporting business growth while maintaining a strong focus on risk management and customer experience.

You will work closely with Product, Growth, Credit, Engineering, and Finance teams to enhance credit operations and make Numida the preferred financial partner for small business owners.

Key Responsibilities

Continuous Improvement of Credit Operations

• Document and update all credit policies, processes, and workflows.

• Track operational data to drive process improvement strategies.

• Equip Credit Team staff with tools, systems, and hardware for maximum efficiency.

• Identify process improvement opportunities and collaborate with Product Team on automation and other solutions.

• Lead operational experiments and implement temporary process modifications.

• Identify gaps and develop solutions with cross-functional teams.

Loan Underwriting and Portfolio Management

• Approve and disburse loans, ensuring data integrity.

• Monitor early-warning indicators, watchlists, and collection strategies.

• Manage Credit Team for maximum repayment rates.

• Oversee escalations, last-resort collections, and legal proceedings.

Credit Team Management

• Define and refine roles and responsibilities of the Credit Team.

• Recruit, train, and mentor staff, fostering a customer-first culture.

• Develop team management tools, performance mechanisms, and check-in schedules.

• Gather team feedback and manage buy-in for new products and processes.

• Ensure alignment of Credit Team with business goals and operational excellence.

Your Profile

• Education: University degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Engineering (MBA is an asset).

• Experience: 7+ years in progressive responsibility roles; at least 3 years in management, preferably in digital lending or fintech.

• Experience in credit analysis, portfolio monitoring, risk reporting, and business process optimization.

• Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, index-match, queries).

• Familiarity with Core Banking Systems, Loan Management Systems, and CRM software is a plus.

• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience in digital lending fintech or digital banks in Africa.

• Familiarity with deposits, embedded finance, or payments products.

• Experience managing compliance audits or regulator relationships.
