Background
The Montreal Protocol (1987) protects the ozone layer by phasing out ozone-depleting substances (CFCs, halons). The Kigali Amendment (2016) focuses on reducing hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) used in refrigeration and air conditioning. The Peruvian Government, through the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) and its General Directorate of Environmental Affairs and Industry (DGAAMI), implements these agreements with technical support from UNDP.
UNDP is seeking a National Project Coordinator to manage the Montreal Protocol and Kigali Amendment Project Portfolio in Peru, coordinating with PRODUCE, UNDP, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and monitor project portfolio components and activities.

Coordinate with UNDP, DGAAMI, international partners, companies, academia, and public institutions.

Promote project visibility, partnerships, and stakeholder engagement.

Document processes, systematize learning, and share best practices.

Oversee consultants, technical execution, budgets, and compliance with UNDP procedures.

Ensure timely delivery of results and high-quality project outputs.
Requirements
Education:
-
Master’s in Natural Resource Management, Sustainable Development, Climate Change, or related fields; or
-
Bachelor’s in Chemical, Industrial, or Environmental Engineering or Environmental Sciences (with 2+ years relevant experience).
Experience & Skills:
-
Experience in environmental project management, preferably with UNDP or UN agencies.

Knowledge of sustainable development, climate change, ozone protection, or cleaner production.

Strong inter-institutional and stakeholder coordination skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams).
Languages:

Fluent in Spanish

Intermediate English (reading, writing, speaking)

Peruvian nationality or valid work permit required

Willingness to work in Lima (PRODUCE – DGAAMI Offices)

NPSA Level 8 salary: S/12,165.19/month + benefits
