The Google Internship 2026 is a fully funded, 12–14 week paid program designed for PhD students in Computer Science or related technical fields. Interns will join either Software Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to work on real projects that power Google’s global infrastructure.

This program is one of the most competitive internships in the world and offers the chance to collaborate with top engineers, researchers, and innovators.

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Requirements:

Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science or related technical field.
Strong coding skills in C, C++, Java, or Python.
Eligible and able to work in the U.S. during the internship.
Proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

Penultimate academic year (returning to studies after internship).
Experience in research fields such as AI, ML, Algorithms, Systems, Distributed Systems, Databases, Networking.
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design.
Available for 12 weeks of full-time work outside academic terms.

Internship Roles

Software Engineering Intern – Design and build scalable systems and tools.
Site Reliability Engineering Intern – Automate and maintain infrastructure reliability at internet scale.

Compensation & Benefits

Annualized salary estimate: $113,000 – $150,000 (US-based)
