University of Rwanda Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program 2025/2026 (Intake 2) for Young Africans | Fully Funded | Deadline: 26 September 2025
Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 University of Rwanda Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program (Intake 2).
The University of Rwanda, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, is implementing a 10-year Scholars Program (2021–2031) to provide access to quality higher education for 1,400 talented young Africans with limited opportunities. The program focuses on:

Females pursuing STEM programs
-
Young people with disabilities
-
Refugees and displaced youth
Scholars will study in selected undergraduate programs across the 7 Colleges of the University of Rwanda:

College of Science and Technology
-
College of Medicine and Health Sciences
-
College of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Sciences
-
College of Business and Economics
-
College of Education
-
College of Arts and Social Sciences
-
College of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences
Eligibility Criteria
-
Must be a citizen of Rwanda (for national quota) or any African country (including refugees and displaced youth).

Academically qualified but with limited access to education opportunities.

Not above 28 years at the time of application (up to 30 years for applicants with certified proof of protracted life condition e.g. refugees, single mothers).

Must meet admission criteria for UR programs and have a UR Reference Number.

Demonstrate leadership potential and community engagement.

Refugees and applicants with disabilities must provide legal proof of status (UNHCR, NCPD, etc.).
