Stanford University’s Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC) invites applications for the Contemporary Taiwan Fellowships. This prestigious program supports scholars working on Taiwan’s politics, society, economics, cross-strait relations, and its role in East Asia. Fellows spend a year in residence at Stanford, developing publishable research, engaging with multidisciplinary colleagues, and participating in APARC’s Taiwan program activities.
Fellowship Details & Benefits

Duration: Typically one academic year (with possible extension)

Appointment Terms: Fellows are expected to reside on campus, engage with the Taiwan Program, host seminars, and attend APARC events

Eligibility & Requirements

Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant field (political science, sociology, economics, IR, history, etc.)

Preference for early- to mid-career scholars (but open to all stages)

Submit an original and rigorous research proposal on Taiwan or regional issues

Commit to residing at Stanford and actively participating in APARC programs
