About TEACH Rwanda and Bright School

TEACH Rwanda (TR) is an International INGO in Rwanda and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the United States. Its mission is to enrich children’s lives by establishing world-class early childhood and primary teacher education in Rwanda through teacher capacity-building.

Bright School (BS), operated by TEACH Rwanda in Muhanga, is a demonstration pre- and primary school that exemplifies a play-based approach using Rwanda’s Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC). The school provides quality education that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and academic excellence through play, projects, and real-world experiences.


Job Summary

Bright School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Upper Primary Languages Teacher (LE) to join its team.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in languages (English and Kinyarwanda) and be confident teaching additional core curriculum subjects.

The teacher will handle P6 students across two parallel classes, supporting their preparation for national exams and fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Successful candidates will undergo a four-week in-house training program to understand and apply Bright School’s child-centered, play-based teaching philosophy.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, play-based English and Kinyarwanda lessons aligned with the CBC.

  • Use interactive, hands-on teaching methods to inspire learners.

  • Assess and report student progress using TEACH Rwanda and Bright School tools.

  • Collaborate with partner teachers to ensure inclusive and coherent learning experiences.

  • Maintain high expectations for students’ performance, health, and safety.

  • Participate in assemblies, school events, and extracurricular activities.

  • Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to school improvement.


Qualifications and Skills

  • A2 qualification in teaching Languages (English and Kinyarwanda) with a TTC certificate in LE.

  • Strong spoken English skills.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire young learners.

  • Commitment to child-centered and play-based learning.

  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow professionally.

  • Passion for language education.
