Scholarship Overview
The Africa Health Collaborative is pleased to announce the launch of the 2026-2027 Mastercard Foundation Doctor of Public Health Scholarships at the University of Toronto. This doctoral scholarship is open to recent alumni and graduating students from Africa Health Collaborative partner universities who have shown academic excellence and a commitment to “going back and giving back” to their home countries.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Be a citizen and current resident of a Sub-Saharan African country.
-
Have graduated from an Africa Health Collaborative partner institution and not yet started a doctoral program.

Show academic excellence and leadership qualities.
-
Be academically admissible to the Doctor of Public Health program.
-
Demonstrate a commitment to return home after studies to contribute to Africa’s development.
Available Program
Up to 3 scholarships will be awarded for the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
Application Process
Step 1: Check Program Requirements
Review the admission criteria for the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program. If eligible, proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Attend a Mandatory Information Session
Applicants must attend at least one virtual information session to qualify.

Info Session 1: September 3rd, 10–11 AM EST

Info Session 2: September 11th, 8–9:30 AM EST

Info Session 3: September 25th, 9–10:30 AM EST
-
Q&A Session: October 1st, 10–11 AM EST
(Registration links will be shared on the official portal.)
Step 3: Submit Scholarship Application
The online application link will be provided during info sessions.
Deadline: October 10, 2025 (11:59 PM EST)
Step 4: Apply to the DrPH Program
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit a formal application to the University of Toronto by November 22, 2025.
