Water For People currently operates in nine countries, including Rwanda, where it supports WASH initiatives in Rulindo, Kicukiro, Gicumbi, Karongi, and Gisagara districts, as well as ten additional districts under the Isoko y’Ubuzima Project funded by the US Government.

Purpose of the Position

The Driver will provide technical and logistical support to Water For People’s operations in line with its annual work plan. The position reports to the Procurement and Logistics Assistant and involves regular travel between Kigali and field sites.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive office vehicles to transport staff, visitors, and authorized personnel.

  • Safely deliver materials, mail, and documents to various destinations.

  • Maintain proper vehicle logs for mileage, fuel, and service records.

  • Ensure vehicles are in good mechanical condition — check oil, water, tires, battery, and brakes daily.

  • Report any mechanical issues, incidents, or accidents promptly.

  • Keep vehicles clean and ensure safety and security when parked.

  • Ensure compliance with Rwanda traffic laws and internal driving regulations.

  • Maintain accountability for time, assignments, and fuel usage.

  • Perform minor repairs or coordinate for external maintenance.

  • Support logistics and administrative tasks as assigned by the supervisor.


Education, Technical Skills, and Knowledge Required

  • High school diploma (mandatory).

  • Valid Rwanda Driver’s License (Category B) required.

  • At least 5 years of driving experience, preferably 3 years with an NGO.

  • Strong knowledge of road safety, vehicle maintenance, and fuel management.

  • Experience maintaining vehicle logbooks and reporting usage.

  • Skills in basic vehicle repair and maintenance highly preferred.

  • Ability to drive in remote areas across Rwanda.

  • Basic computer skills and fluency in English and Kinyarwanda (French is an advantage).

Salary and Benefits

  • Expected monthly gross salary: RWF 444,750 – RWF 644,406 (depending on experience).

  • Benefits include: medical and life insurance, annual leave equivalent to one month’s salary, and other benefits as per Rwanda labor law.
