To strengthen its construction and engineering standards, RDB is seeking highly qualified and experienced Senior Electrical Engineers to join its technical team.


Job Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of all electrical systems within RDB construction projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with relevant codes and regulations.

The role covers all stages of the project — from design and cost estimation to supervision, testing, and commissioning — while ensuring that engineering quality standards are upheld.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience for Bachelor’s degree holders

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience for Master’s degree holders


Required Competencies and Technical Skills

  • Proven experience in electrical systems design and application in construction or infrastructure projects (MEP context).

  • Skills in defining electrical appliances, developing specifications, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning.

  • Experience in green electrical systems design and supervision.

  • Strong knowledge of MEP design and supervision for large-scale construction projects.

  • Registered Electrical Engineer with the Institute of Engineers Rwanda (IER) with a valid license.

  • Holder of a valid Electrical Installation Permit Class B issued by RURA.

  • Knowledge of green building principles and working with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Fluent in English or French, with Kinyarwanda as an added advantage.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, review, and oversee all electrical systems for RDB construction projects.

  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with international and national standards.

  • Coordinate closely with contractors, consultants, and supervisors.

  • Participate in project meetings to ensure quality and timely progress.

  • Review and approve contractor and supervisor documents.

  • Verify and certify invoices, completion certificates, and other contractual deliverables.

  • Conduct regular field inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards.

  • Report project progress to the SPIU Coordinator.

  • Identify and manage commercial and contractual risks.

  • Promote quality assurance and continuous improvement across all engineering projects.
