Job Summary

Nyanza District, in partnership with APEFA, is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to serve as Project Coordinator. The role involves leading project implementation, ensuring effective coordination among stakeholders, and overseeing the execution of activities related to infrastructure, environment, and agriculture development.


Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Implementation

  • Lead execution of all project activities in line with approved work plans and budgets.

  • Oversee procurement, contract management, and construction supervision.

  • Ensure smooth communication and collaboration among APEFA, Nyanza District authorities, service providers, and local communities.

Technical Oversight

  • Supervise infrastructure works (irrigation systems, land husbandry, and road construction).

  • Ensure compliance with environmental and social safeguards.

  • Collaborate with engineering consultants to review technical designs and ensure quality assurance.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Establish and maintain an M&E system to track progress (physical and financial).

  • Collect and analyze field data and produce regular progress reports.

  • Document lessons learned and best practices for future improvement.

Stakeholder and Community Engagement

  • Facilitate participatory planning and mobilize community members.

  • Promote gender equality, youth participation, and social inclusion.

  • Coordinate capacity-building sessions on climate-smart agriculture and sustainable land use.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Monitor and manage project expenditures in compliance with financial procedures.

  • Ensure efficient use of resources and accountability.

  • Coordinate financial reporting between APEFA and Nyanza District finance teams.


Qualifications and Experience

Education:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in one of the following fields:

  • Project Management

  • Environmental Sciences

  • Water Resources Management

  • Climate Change

  • Agricultural Economics

  • Natural Resources Management

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Minimum 9 years of relevant experience.

  • Master’s Degree: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.


Required Competencies and Technical Skills

  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and coaching abilities.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.

  • High integrity and professional ethical standards.

  • Strong planning, communication, and time management skills.

  • Knowledge of budgeting, monitoring, and control techniques.
