With programs active in all 30 districts, the organization focuses on education, child protection, child rights governance, and health & nutrition — both in humanitarian and development contexts.
Role Purpose
The Project Officer – Early Childhood Development (ECD) will lead the implementation of Early Childhood Development interventions in the Eastern Province. This includes working closely with project teams, partners, and local authorities to ensure quality delivery of ECD activities, mentoring teachers, and providing technical support for community-based ECDs.
The Project Officer will regularly report progress to the Project Manager and ensure all activities are aligned with project goals and timelines.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement detailed action plans for ECD programs.

Design and lead caregiver training plans for ECD programs.

Sensitize district, sector, and cell-level stakeholders on early learning and school readiness.

Provide mentoring and professional support to teachers in community-based ECDs.

Monitor and report project progress weekly, monthly, and quarterly.

Coordinate procurement and distribution of ECD materials.

Represent Save the Children in sector/district meetings.

Identify training needs and prepare quality training reports.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
-
Bachelor’s degree (or Diploma) in Education or Social Sciences (preferably Early Childhood Education).

Proven experience working with NGOs.
-
Good understanding of Early Childhood Development principles.
-
Ability to work with children, communities, and local authorities.
-
Experience in participatory planning, monitoring, and reporting.
-
Strong communication skills in Kinyarwanda and English.
-
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Desirable:
-
Strong computer, reporting, and communication skills.
-
TOT (Training of Trainers) skills.
-
Familiarity with Save the Children’s “Ready to Learn” approach.
