1. Accountant

Location: Rwanda Employer: Rwanda Management Institute (RMI) Deadline: 23 December 2025

Job Responsibilities

The Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial management and reporting in line with applicable standards and regulations. Key duties include:

  1. Prepare profit and loss statements, monthly closings, and cost accounting reports.
  2. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, including general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.
  3. Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and internal control procedures.
  4. Analyze and review budgets and expenditures for local, state, federal, and private funding, contracts, and grants.
  5. Monitor and review accounting and financial system reports for accuracy and completeness.
  6. Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents.
  7. Analyze revenue and expenditure trends, recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure expenditure control.
  8. Explain billing invoices and accounting policies to staff, vendors, and clients.
  9. Resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
  10. Recommend, develop, and maintain financial databases, accounting software systems, and manual filing systems.
  11. Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports within automated financial systems.
  12. Liaise with internal and external auditors during audit processes.
  13. Execute monthly bank reconciliations.
  14. Prepare and present financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  15. Review and improve financial recording and monitoring processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  16. Facilitate external auditors during audit assignments.
  17. Maintain a financial reporting calendar and ensure timely preparation of all financial reports.
  18. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in line with the job responsibilities.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management with specialization in Finance or Accounting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with specialization in Finance or Accounting
  • Professional accounting qualifications recognized by IFAC (ACCA, CPA) are eligible

Required Experience: 0 years of relevant experience

Required Certificates

  • Accounting professional qualification recognized by IFAC (ACCA, CPA) is an added advantage.

Required Competencies and Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of financial accounts and accounting principles
  • Knowledge of cost analysis techniques
  • High analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in financial systems (SMART IFMIS)
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Judgement and decision-making abilities
  • Coordination, planning, and interpersonal skills
  • Teamwork and flexibility
  • Ability to analyze complex financial information and produce accurate reports
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in Kinyarwanda, English, and/or French (knowledge of all three is an added advantage)

2. Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer

Location: Rwanda Employer: Rwanda Management Institute (RMI) Deadline: 23 December 2025

Job Responsibilities

The Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will support strategic planning, monitoring, and reporting functions of the Institute. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Develop tools for the preparation of the Institution’s strategic plan, medium-term plan, and annual action plans.
  2. Consolidate data and formulate annual action plans and the Institution’s performance contracts.
  3. Plan and coordinate program and project execution.
  4. Consolidate and monitor the Institution’s plans of action.
  5. Produce the annual activity report of the Institution.
  6. Regularly develop and update strategic interventions in line with national priorities and Government of Rwanda (GoR) policies.
  7. Analyze reports and prepare summaries for submission to the Director General.
  8. Develop and implement monitoring mechanisms and tools to track implementation of national policies and institutional plans.
  9. Conduct periodic monitoring of institutional activities and performance contracts.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold one of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration

Required Experience: 0 years of relevant experience

  • Strong knowledge of strategic planning processes and tools
  • Understanding of organizational structures, workflows, and operational procedures
  • Knowledge of results-based management and logical framework approaches
