Role Purpose
The Project Design Lead will spearhead the creative, technical, and educational design components of the Creative Rwanda Program, developing innovative artisan products, leading design capacity-building activities, and ensuring cultural authenticity in all outputs.
Key Responsibilities

Creative Curriculum Design: Create training modules, design frameworks, and lead the 12-week Creative Residency Program.

Artisan Product Development: Guide co-creation of new product collections, from sketching to prototyping.

Quality Assurance: Set and maintain product design standards and ensure scalability while preserving uniqueness.

Capacity Building: Mentor artisans, facilitate ToT programs, and support cooperatives with ongoing design coaching.

Documentation & Collaboration: Track impact, document success stories, and collaborate with consortium partners.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product/Fashion/Textile Design, Creative Arts, or related field.

5+ years of experience in artisan product design, creative industries, or craft-based entrepreneurship.

Strong skills in co-design, prototyping, and materials innovation.

Experience managing projects using Agile methodologies.

Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda (French is an asset).
